Welcome to Homeschool Highlights!
This weekly link-up is your opportunity to share some highlights of what is happening in your homeschool and in your world each week. If you write a wrap-up post at the end of each week, like I've been doing, we'd love to see what you're busy with from week to week. If you'd like to pick a favorite post from your week that spotlights a resource or activity in your homeschool that you'd like to tell others about, we're interested in those too. I'm keeping the guidelines as simple as I can, and they will appear at the bottom of each post, along with the link tool. I look forward to getting to know you, and I hope this will be a source of encouragement and good ideas for all of us.

Grab a cup of coffee and let's get started!

This is my newest mug - a Christmas gift from my sister-in-law, who obviously knows me well!!

Homeschool news  . . . None! No school during Christmas week!! Although I know Kennady did a little work on her upcoming Speech & Presentation project, and a couple of our outings in Columbus could probably be considered educational.

Other news . . . on Saturday we finished our Christmas shopping and what little decorating we still wanted to do. Sunday morning we were at church, then came home to change and pack up for our trip to Columbus to spend Christmas with our son and his family. We even got there in time to attend the Christmas Eve service at our son's church. Veronica didn't quite have the hang of unwrapping her gifts by herself, but she sure had a great time with all her new toys! She warmed up to Nonnie and Poppy (that's me and the hubster) pretty quickly, and pretty soon was ready to let the uncles and auntie spoil her too. Just a few Christmas Day pictures:

On Boxing Day we were disappointed to find that the restaurant we wanted to try was closed (Super Chef) but we loved the deep dish pizza we had at Giordano's. Then we headed over to IKEA where we wandered around for THREE HOURS. I kid you not. I was actually lost and despaired of ever seeing the outside again.

Then my family was kind enough to accompany me on a trip to The Book Loft, which is a wonderful book store in the German Village. We managed to keep our stay there to a bit under two hours. And we got lost there as well! Then we went next door for a cup of coffee, before heading to Cartoon Museum at Ohio State University. Which is free, by the way, and very interesting. More about it in an upcoming post.

32 rooms like this - warrens of books floor to ceiling. Otherwise
known as "heaven" for booklovers. Just wish I had an unlimited
budget to spend!

My birthday dinner was at one of my very favorite restaurants, Melt Bar and Grilled.

What I Loved This Week . . .  so many things! But most of all, I loved being able to spend time with this sweet little girl.

I recommend . . .  heading to The Old Schoolhouse Magazine website to take advantage of the Molly Green sale - just a couple of days left!

On my blogs last week . . .

And on my book blog, Just A Second:

Just A Second is where I share book reviews and other book-related things, and update on what's on my bookshelf. This week I've been reading:

A parting shot . . . Steak 'N Shake has Breakfast Shakes in cereal flavors. I mean, why would you NOT try this? I recommend the Honey Smacks flavor.

My kids adore steak and shake but we don't have any near us so it's a special treat when we vacation down south. How could you not love that adorable smiling face?! I bet Christmas was quite special with a new little one to share it with.

Love the bookstore!! Looks like a great week. I don't think I could stomach the cereal flavored milkshakes...but it might not be too bad. Happy New Year!

Little V is getting bigger, and cuter than ever! Glad you made it out of Ikea alive! Did you know Google Maps maps that place?! We had an after Christmas Ikea trip too.
